The remake of "Friday the 13th" took in $42.4 million in its opening weekend from February 13, -15, 2009, the highest amount ever recorded by a horror film in its opening weekend in the U.S., breaking the previous record of $39 million taken in by The Grudge in its opening weekend in October 2004.
