"Iron Brew" soda is invented in Scotland:
1901
In 1901, Andrew Greig Barr came up with the recipe for "Iron Brew" soda at his family's soft-drink factory in Falkirk, Scotland. In 1947, new food labeling laws in Scotland caused the Barr family to change Iron Brew's name to "Irn-Bru." Irn-Bru now battles Coke for the best-selling soft drink in Scotland.
