Record for most hugs by one person over a 24-hour period:
7,777
On Feb. 14, 2010, Jeff Ondash, a 51-year-old from Ohio, gave 7,777 hugs in 24 hours outside the Paris Las Vegas Hotel in Nevada, breaking the previous record of 4,315 hugs in a 24 hour period set by Siobhan O'Connor in Dublin, Ireland on Feb. 26,2009.

Invention of bad breath testing device:
August 2008
On August 19, 2008, the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office issued Patent No. 7,413,550 for a breath testing device. According to an abstract of the invention, "when a user with bad breath blows into the tube or straw, the indicating agent will change color."
